Whether you have an e-PAN PDF downloaded from the Income Tax portal, a photo of your physical PAN card, or a scanned copy, you often need to print clean copies for submission to banks, employers, government offices, and various portals. Printing the PAN card on A4 with large empty margins wastes paper, while a properly cropped and arranged print produces a clean, professional photocopy or even a plastic-card-equivalent output on photo paper.

Cropping and arranging your PAN for printing takes about thirty seconds. Here is the complete process.

Step 1: Upload Your PAN
Click the upload zone or drag and drop your file. Three input types are supported — a JPG or PNG photo of your PAN card, a scanned image, or the e-PAN PDF downloaded from the Income Tax portal or NSDL. Maximum file size is 20 MB.

Step 2: Handle Password (For e-PAN PDFs)
If you uploaded a password-protected e-PAN PDF, the tool detects this automatically. The password for NSDL e-PAN is your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format. The password for UTI e-PAN is also typically the date of birth in DDMMYYYY format. Enter the password in the field that appears.

Step 3: Choose Paper Size
Select the paper size you will print on. A4 is the most common for office and home printers. A3 is for large or bulk printing. Letter is the US standard. Photo paper sizes 4x6, 5x7, and 6x8 produce the best plastic-card-quality output when printed at photo studios.

Step 4: Set Number of Copies
Use the plus and minus buttons to set how many copies you want on the sheet. Each copy contains the PAN front and back with a 5mm gap. Set 1 for a single copy, or up to 50 for bulk printing.

Step 5: Click Crop and Download
The tool processes your PAN at 300 DPI print resolution and generates a print-ready file.

Step 6: Print
Open the downloaded file and print at actual size. Use 100 GSM paper for normal prints or matte/glossy photo paper for premium card-quality output.

For the cleanest crop, use the original e-PAN PDF downloaded from the NSDL or UTI portal. The PDF contains the PAN at high resolution and produces the sharpest print.

The e-PAN PDF password is typically your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format. For example, 15081990 for 15 August 1990. This format applies to most NSDL and UTI e-PAN PDFs.

For CSC operators printing PAN copies for clients, A4 with 4 to 6 copies per sheet is most efficient. Use 100 GSM paper for prints that feel substantial.

For photo paper printing at studios, 4x6 size with one copy gives a perfect plastic-card-equivalent print. Get this laminated for a usable backup PAN card to keep in your wallet.

For phone photos of PAN, take them in good light with the card flat. Avoid shadows and tilted angles. A flatbed scanner produces the best results.

Never share your cropped PAN image online or with unverified parties. PAN is a financial identity document and must be protected like Aadhaar.
